7-segment displays always add a nice touch to a project requiring some sort of numeric display. As simple as they are, they still end up requiring a lot of extra work just to get them going. When I discovered the WS2811, and the fact it could drive 3 LEDs of any type, I knew it would be perfect for this project.
The board is simple, just 3 x WS2811 that control the 8 LEDs of the 7-segment display. The displays need to be common Anode so that the WS2811 can ground each pin as controlled.
They only require 3 wires from the arduino to get them going, and you can daisy chain as many together as you like!

If you would like to skip the build process and just buy a few, I'm trying out running my own Crowdfunding campaign on my website, check it out here: https://shop.idlehandsdev.com/products/addressable-7-segment-display
